Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Tech News Xplore (“we”, “us”, “the Site”) collects when you visit technewsxplore.com, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We wrote it to be read, not to hide in.

1. Who we are

Tech News Xplore is an independent American technology publication. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, the data controller is Tech News Xplore, reachable at the email and postal address listed at the end of this policy.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Browsing data

When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools automatically receive standard technical information: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure and improve the Site.

2.2 Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you provide, your comment content, and your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it.

2.3 Contact forms

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject and message. This information is emailed to our team and is not stored in the Site database.

2.4 Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address solely to send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

3. How we use your information

  • To operate, maintain and secure the Site.
  • To respond to messages you send us.
  • To deliver the newsletter you asked for.
  • To measure our audience and understand which coverage readers value.
  • To display advertising, including personalized advertising where you have consented.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. Advertising and third party vendors, including Google

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and other sites on the Internet.

You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.

Where required by law, personalized advertising is only served after you give consent through our cookie banner, as described in our Cookie Policy.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on these bases: your consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies and personalized ads); our legitimate interests (site security, audience measurement, fraud prevention, responding to your messages); and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Your GDPR rights

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; rectification of inaccurate data; erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”); restriction of processing; data portability in a structured, commonly used format; objection to processing based on legitimate interests; and the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7. Your CCPA and CPRA rights (California residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, disclose and sell or share; delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions; correct inaccurate personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising; and not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. Certain advertising cookie use may be considered “sharing” under the CPRA; you can decline it at any time via our cookie banner or the opt-out links above.

8. Data retention

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Contact form messages are retained only as long as needed to respond, typically under twelve months. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are rotated regularly and retained for a maximum of twelve months.

9. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, access controls and least-privilege practices to protect your information. No method of transmission over the Internet is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the risk as low as practical.

10. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Children (COPPA)

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the Site.

13. Exercising your rights
